Parametric design that is a method for CAD was presented at the end of 80抯. Parametric design is defined that dimensions of parametric model are indicated by corresponding relations, and needn't confirm concrete value. Changing a value of parameter, system will change automatically all dimensions and follow restraint terms. This method can achieve exact modeling of manufactures automatically by adjusting parameters. The parametric design can conveniently aid designer to develop new product and modify the product structure repeatedly, and can effectively promote the design efficiency and quality. This design method become an important field of the computer-aided design and possess the good prospects. The paper applies parametric design to research seriation ofQM4l4O notch-utting machine. Basing existing range of cutting (2Omm-4Omm), system design differ standards from 10mm to 100mm. This thesis discusses the whole process and key technique based on AutoCAD 2000 by applying Visual LISP & Auto LISP. Overall, accomplish this topic need possess and adhere to two conditions:1 machinery design principle. 2. computer programming. The thesis statements explicitly 2 terms aboveentioned. It includes :system total structures compilingand run VisualLISP& Auto LISP,building data base describing topologic relations transmit design and automatic assembly of two part drawings. There are some drawbacks within parametric design. Among these drawbacks, the important one is test outcome. Owing to short-time the thesis only bring up some suggests and assume in order to follow-up research.
