This paper introduces the development of distributed Client/Server structure, and put forward a kind of design method of an Electric Power Real-time Data Monitor System, which uses technology of Distributed Component Model. And the system's construction is Client/Application Server. At the same time, the paper get a simple introduce of application theory and design idea of whole system. The paper emphasizes on the design of the Application Server and the realization of Client in the Real-time Data Monitor System: The design of the Application Server uses technology of ActiveX Automation Server based on Distributed Component Model standard, and component object in the Application Server include the function for user management, the function for deal with graphic data and the function for deal with data in real-time database etc. These classes in Application Server used for users management, handling data in graphic files, handling data in real-time database and in charge of exchanging data with clients. The realization of the Application Server is accomplished by Application Program or ActiveX controller in clients. Clients receive data by data interface of components in Application Server, and display these data in GUI of clients by the way of graphics or curves.
