Based on the general analysis of overheating reasons & corresponding measures evolved in superheaters & reheaters of the coal-fired tangential boilers in China, the on-site tests are made under both steady state & dynamic state to study the overheat problems of a nation-made boiler. Some upgrading methods, such as counter-tangential top air at 15-18 degree and material upgrading replaced by TP3O4H,TP347L steel are put forward. The function of burners tilting should be reused in operation. The increasing speed of fuel quantity should be controlled in the beginning of load increasing. The upgrading measures are effectived proved by the practivity. The automatic control method of cold end & axial air leakage for Ljungstrom regenerative air heater is put forward in this paper, it will improve automatic control level of thermal power plant and operating economics of unit, also enlarge the application of regenerative air heater.In view of the existing problems in the continuous blowdown system of 300MW boiler,the optimal refurbishment is carried out to save energy. These measures are signficent to improved the safety and economy of the boiler.
