Meanwhile, its positions and environments of operation also change deeply. Port industry having faced more and more competitive market climate. Therefore, the constructions and developments of container terminals not only relate to its own existence, but also associate with national economy and social progress.This paper makes focus on the problem of construction and development of Ningbo Container Terminal. On the basis of systematic summary on the construction and development of the international container transportation system and container center in our country, it points out the development tendency of international container transportation and its influence on the construction and development of container terminals. Then, the predictions of the throughput of Ningbo Container Terminal and the types of ships arrived have been given out by the analysis of the nature and hinterland economy of Ningbo Port. Finally, according to the theory of port engineering planning, the construction and development plan of Ningbo Container Terminal has been put forward.
