With the development of industry and agriculture, the requirement for reliable running of power equipment is more and more necessary. Therefore, in the areas where high reliability and safety are required, controlling, monitoring, and follow-up managing power equipment are more and more important, the same with ship power station. In order to realize the reliable control and safe operation and maintenance of ship power station, and enhance the automation degree of unmanned engine room, the thesis has designed a novel distributed ship power automation system (network monitoring and management system) which can increase the reliability and economic effect, using advanced industrial control technology, computer technology and network programming technology.The automation is composed of two operating station computers (one is a backup computer) and three slave computers. Every slave computer, which is cored by 80C51 single chip microcomputer, controls a generator independently. Slave computers have data detection and control function with the help of the data capture and control interfaces which are composed of all kinds of position switches, sensors and execution units. Master computer (operation station computer) is industrial PC with Windows 98 as operating system. Using graphical user interface, Visual basic & Visual C++ programming technology and SQL Server data base system, master computer has data capture and displaying, data recording, data printing and dada enquiring functions and after-treatment functions. Slave computer (measurement and control unit) and master computer (monitoring and management unit) are connected by serial communication for data exchanging. In addition, the automation system can work together with other systems in the ship. The completed automation system not only can perform the starting, connecting, frequency and load modulating, disconnecting and stopping functions automatically but also can perform the monitoring, alarming, automatic recording, and performance evaluating functions, etc.inWith the dispersed control and centralized management, the system achieves high running effect.The system increase the precision of frequency measurement using frequency measurement method based on least error square algorithm and using digital pre-treatment algorithm, which can eliminate the bad effect resulted from sqaure and high power harmonic. The system also makes a groping research on the precision and quickness in the process of generator connection, because it captures the angle of advance with the help of fuzzy algorithm.The system adopts redundancy technique and error proof measure: communicating process uses a self-adapting protocol and CRC; master computer software can avoid human-initiated-failure, check data border, limit authority, backup system data and start backup computer by software etc. To some extent, these ways help to increase the reliability of the system.
