Over the past several years, Sino-us bilateral trade volume has experienced significant improvement. The value of trade mounted to 61.47 billion dollars in 1999, with an increase of 15% or larger. Therefore, the fast-developing container transportation between China and USA has becoming an important source of profit for the international container transportation industry. At the same time, serious problems still remain in Sino-us container transportation. Slot imbalance, a serious obstacle for further development, is consuming vast sums from international shipping enterprises. This paper has paid great concern to this problem, and tried to solve it in various ways.Sino-us container transportation is one of the main shipping services all over the world. It is an important gateway of pacific economic rim, and a specific bridge through Asia to the United States. Besides the normal characteristics of container transportation, there are many special patterns and features in Sino-us container shipping. Today, seldom papers were found to focus on this topic, so it is very necessary to make studies due to the high leading position of Sino-us container shipping.This paper is based on characteristics of transpacific shipping, analyzes its market features, and makes forecasting on container volumes and capacity of coming years with several methods employed which includes time series, regression method and so on. Especially, according to current competition status of container shipping market, the author analyzes the current price policy with the theory of game theory, and discusses the proposals. The author also makes use of the economy theory to analyze the sino-us container transportation market from its monopoly-competition character perspective.Ship owners have been frustrated by the slot imbalance between China and the United States. All the participants in the Sino-us line have lost 1.5 billion by estimate. Therefore, the author puts forward a number of solutions from different perspectives.China and the United States used to be, and remains to act as important roles of this world.
