The Protestant missions entered Fuzhou after the Opium War in 1840, and with this, Christian architecture were built. Most scholars have paid much attention to the study on the history of Christianity in China, or church education, etc., but few cast a glance on Christian buildings. Through the reflection of architecture, this essay aims at the brief discussion of how Christianity influenced Fuzhounese in modem history. By trying to get as more materials as possible and using the study methods of history, architecture and social science, it mainly describes the development of Christian buildings in modem Fuzhou and discusses the influence that Christian architecture pressed on traditional architectural thoughts of Fuzhounese. And from this ,we can catch a clue of the transformation of Christian policy and the cultural intercourse between China and western countries. And at last, this essay discussed the meaning of Christian buildings in modern Fuzhou in Semiotics context.
