A face harmonic motion drive of separate tooth is a new form of utility model drive. It belongs to a structure of space active teeth drive. Using axial wave producer replacing radial eccentric wave producer is its outstanding features besides mutitooth meshing and high transmission efficiency features of radial active teeth drive. Its size is very compact and axial clearance is adjustable. Using tapered rollers meshed face gear with line of engagement for the first time increases bearing capacity, reduces sliding rate, prolongs operational life span and enhances stability of drive. And instant drive ratio is basically constant. Especially it is suitable for being used in all kinds of equipments required high power and big reduction ratio.State-of-the-art about harmonic motion drive and active teeth drive at foreign and home is simply reviewed. Merits and faults are analyzed according to their structural compositions and features of drive. At first the structures of the face harmonic motion drive of separate tooth are analyzed. Its principle of work is given. And simple chart of dynamic mechanism without superfluous constraints is established according to contact and junction of components each other. On basis of structural analysis the way of drive ratio calculations about this drive form are given using conversion method of mechanism and the constant conditions of instant drive ratio are brought forward. Profile of tooth about this drive form is mainly researched and the motion law of separate tooth is determined. Then the theoretical equation of conjugate tooth profiles deduced, and the way of formation of teeth profile established and the influence of profile parameters on instant drive ratio, profile shape and drive performances analyzed are founded bases for design and optimization of structure. Finally, meshing courses of meshed mates and geometric model of meshing state are analyzed. Its condition of continuous drive is researched and equation of overlap ratio is deduced according to geometric model of meshing state. These theoretical researches on the face harmonic motion drive of separate tooth are founded theoretical bases for design of model machine and preproduction model.Presently, this new model drive has not been researched. Therefore, the basically theoretical research on the face harmonic motion drive of separate tooth and application is not only developed new type of active teeth drive but also has a definite theoretical significance and economic value.
