In this paper,the non-normal operation performances for large-scale synchronous generators of Chongqing Power Plant were studied deep and systematically. At first,the model of synchronous generators which takes account of saturation of main magnetic circuit is presented. The effect and necessity of this model are demonstrated by numerical and experimental results. An unified model including electric network,generators,excitation and governor systems is established;Based on the analysis of the different no-load short-circuit faults,the boundary conditions and simulation model of load short-circuit faults for synchronous generators is built up and corresponding simulation program which can be available for flexible selection different short-circuit points is set. The transient process and solving methods of power auto-reclosing are studied. Numerical results confirm that the values of current and electromagnetic torque are smaller. The transient simulation models of synchronous generators fault-switching in is studied and the transient process is simulated. Operational characteristics of synchronous generator are simulated. The simulation model was established with Saber software. The simulation model could act as an efficient tool which studies to typical non-normal operation mode for large-scale synchronous generators.
