With the development of the technology of electric power-electronics and computer, the trend that drive takes the place of drive is emerging rapidly in the drive field of regulating speed. People are paying more and more attention to the application in the synchronous motor cycloconverter vector control technology especially in high power and low speed machines. The fundamentals of the vector control of synchronous motor are analysed and the whole system simulation model is developed by using MATLAB. Detection circuit that plays an important role in digtal vector system is designed and verified.Simulating the synchronous motor is the key to the system simulation. According to the mathematic model of synchronous motor, a simulation model of synchronous motor is developed by using S-function, which is a software package supplied by MATLAB .The cycloconverter model is established by using Power System Blockset(PSB),which are also supplied by MATLAB. Simulink is selected to build up vector control system based on analysing its principle and characeristic. And according to characters among different block sets in MATLAB, the synchronous motor model , cycloconverter model and vector control system model are linked together to build up a vector control system.Based on the system model, the steady-state behavior of synchronous motor cycloconverter vector control system is simulated and studied. The results of simulation prove validity of the simulation model. The influence rules on harmonic wave of motor stator current and ripple of electromagnetism torque are obtained under different rotational speed and voltage modulation ratio. Detection circuit in vector system includes three parts: synchronous signal detection of source voltage, zero-crossing detection of cycloconverter load current, output phase current detection of cycloconverter. Based on analyzing the principles of detection circuit, it is designed and its parameters are calculated. Synchronized-signal is accurately measured by synchronous signal detection of source voltage and can provide for vector system. The circuit for zero-crossing detection has measured the accurate current zero-crossing point on thyristors and supply pulse signal for changing groups. Phase current in motor stator is precisely detected by current detection circuit. Detection circuit reach the anticipation.
