| Municipal pipe & drainage networks play a vital part in production, life and development. Hence, people work a lot about them and gain plentiful achievements. However, the study for the inner law of network fractal character and covering formation that is determined by the character is still vacant due to the absence of appropriate theory.This paper creatively introduce fractal theory into the study of municipal networks(include pipe networks, sewer networks and storm sewer networks), analyze their fractal character and explain their physical mechanism, which is the origin of the fractal structure. Using study about traffic and stream for reference, the indices of covering formation are put forward as completely new criteria for evaluating municipal network planning. Network fractal model is built and proper algorithm is put forward too, so is the program. With them, we can calculate fractal dimensions conveniently. Further more, factors that may affect fractal dimension value are also commentated.Applying the model, we calculate several networks in Beijing suburb districts and yield corresponding fractal dimensions. Combining with the factual network planning picture, the meaning of fractal dimension is analyzed. Pipe & drainage network planning of these districts is evaluated then. |
