Ground engineering is veiy important in the whole construction engineering project, not only for its engineering quantity but also for its expenditure account for great proportion. At present, there are many methods of ground improvement in our country, and ground improvement is regional, so it is practical to optimize the project of ground improvement, based on the condition of geology and engineering, and the level of construction, inspection and economy.In recent years, there are many middle-bjgh buildings having been built in Taiyuan. Usually, the loads for such buildings were comparatively great, and the original subsoils could not satisfy the demands of bearing capacity or deformation, so the subsoils musticchnologies go improve the soils. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the soil treatment project.The optimization involves all kind of factors, which consist of qualitative and quantitative factors. In this paper, the author adopts the decision-making method of system engineering to solve this problem, and this optimization is a problem of decision with multiple objective. From many methods of optimization with multiple objective, the Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is used in this paper to establish an optimization pattern of ground improvement. In. this pattern, there are two processes, in which the restrictions met by a given project should be pointed out first, then those methods which can mot meet the restrictions are omitted. Secondly, the feasibility methods are compared both in technical and economy aspects. In second process, the author gives the goal, the rule and the index stratums in light with AHP. Thestratuiils by judging and consulting some experts. At last, two engineering examples are used to validate the pattern.
