Since 1960s, the mechanical strength reliability and structural system reliability, whose main failure modes are fatigue and service life, has achieved a great deal of development and been applied to engineering machine, aeronautical and astronautical engineering, electric apparatus, bridges, ship, civil engineering etc. With the developing of space technology and tendency of machine towards high speed, precision, automation, one realizes the importance of mechanism reliability based on the accuracy of motion, for the errors of mechanism occurred more often than that of structure, especially in the field of aeronautical and astronautical engineering and operate system of weapon. Based on the elementary principle, this paper presented a concrete solution of mechanism reliability of gas operated automated machine (GOAM).1. Only when it is impulsed by the high pressure gas, can GO AM fulfill its performance of the actuating stage. The actuating reliability is regarded as a series system of two elements, viz. the initializing reliability and the motion parameter reliability. Their safe margin functions are established from the angle of the automated machine's moving differential equation and the transform of energy, after the relation among the members of the machine has been attained. At the last, an numerical example is presented to indicate some factors that effect the GOAM's reliability and the reasonable design of the machine.2. The vibration reliability plays a critical role during normal work stage of the GO AM, for the characteristic of high speed. In this section, on the base of the analysis of the computational method about systems of single freedom degree and multiple degrees, the computational method of two types vibration reliability of continuum viz. longitudinal vibration and flexural vibration, has been achieved. At the last, an numerical example is presented to indicate some factors that effect the GOAM's vibration reliability and the reasonable design of the machine.
