Brick was widely applied to the buildings for its advantages of workability in project application and lower cost. However, with the development of energy conservation in buildings, traditional solid brick could not meet need of thermal insulation any longer. In order to promote the development of energy conservation in building in Chongqing and transitional districts, new type brick, perforated brick or hollow brick should be developed as soon possible.In order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional solid brick, to protect environment and to economize resources, the author first recommended the experimental study of drying and firing of Coalstore-shale Fired Perforated Brick. The result assumed the effect of percentage of water content, raw material fineness, temperature and insulation time on property of coalstore-shale perforated or hollow brick. The paper applies ANSYS finite program to analyse Coalstore-shale Fired Perforated Brick's hole shape, and finds the factors that influence the strength of bricks. The author attempts to explore from the basic principle of heat transfer the effect of the changes of hole arrangements and hole ratios of the perforated (hollow) brick in certain dimensions on the thermal transition of the brick, and to improve the thermal insulation property of the brick on this basis. Finally, the proper parameter of product process is given to direct the production of coalstore-shale fired perforated or hollow brick.Through experiment of uniform local compression strength of Coalstore-shale Fired Perforated Brick Masonry (CFPBM), the author obtains the data of uniform local compression strength and coefficient (r) of uniform local compression of CFPBM. Meanwhile, through contrasting with Code of masonry structure design, the author provides some items for CFPBM structure. The result of experiment shows that uniform local compression strength of CSPBM belows the Code listing strength. At last, the value of Y is defined ≤1.5.
