Multi-storey steel structure system for residential building has been studied in this paper. Focus on the situation of groundwork and actual condition, practical structure systems have been carried out and also their value have been analyzed. It is believable that this study can drive the steel structure system in our country. Steel frame structure system is fit for both different areas and different kinds of buildings, it has extensive applicability and easy to popularize. The study on this structure system can also promote the study on other field which correlative to this and make them more perfect. Residential building industry is the new increasing point in our economic development, the buildings for resident have the value of large quantity and extensive coverage. So, steel structure has bright future in the process of the modernization of resident industrialization. Steel structure will become the major structure system because of its intrinsic merits.The main points of this paper can be concluded as follows:1.Steel frame structure will be economical and feasible to mutil-storey residence buildings in 6-degree intensity region. These results have very important realistic value to the application and popularization of mutil-storey steel structure in 6-degree and below region.2.The steel frame structure can also be used to be the structure system of some special mutil-storey buildings in 8-degree intensity region. And use an example to explain that it can enforce rigidity of the structure if increasing the depth of girder of frame structure. These results have some realistic value to the application and popularization of mutil-storey steel structure in 8-degree region.3. A new structure system which uses a lot of analysis in internal forces and steel consumption of structure to low-rise, mutil-storey and middlehigh-consumption rise residential buildings is brought forward. These results have some directive value to the application and popularization of the structure system base on cold-formed steel.
