Primary Studies On The Mechanism Of Electro-osmosis In Saturated Soil

Firstly, the basic theories of electro-osmosis are introduced, then the factors affecting electro-osmosis and the application in engineering practice are discussed.Secondly, based on the research works of others, the mechanism of the electro-osmosis are canvassed, which mainly include transmission of electro-osmosis flow in the soil, ion transferring, polarizing, super potential and conductance in the clay, et al.Thirdly, the application of the model of the double-layers theory in the electro-osmosis is recommended. The basic theories about electro-osmosis in capillary are referred. And the application of Hemholtz-Smoluchowski model, Burgreen model and Nakache model in the electro-osmosis are also introduced.Finally, the numerical analysis about the electro-osmotic flow in the soil is presented according to Wiedemann and Casagrand equation, and some useful conclusions are given.
