Corrugated arch metal roof is a new kind of large-span thin-shell structure. It has been widely used since 1980s when it was firstly imported into China. And it has also been proved that this kind of structure possesses a great vitality and a bright future.The structural analysis becomes very complicated for the large number of corrugations consist in the metal roof. It seems that the accurate theoretical analysis and study is impossible by now, and there is no feasible designing standard set down. In a word, theoretical study falls far behind engineering application, and this situation has cumbered its further popularization in China.In this article, we take corrugated arch metal roof as the study object. By analyzing these corrugations' forming principle and considering the metal plates' mechanical property, we advanced a new simplified calculating method. In this method, the arch roof with corrugations is equivalent to orthotropic shells, and the equivalent elastic coefficients are determined by simplified calculating formula. Then the finite element model is constructed for the statical , dynamical analysis of the roof. The results of FEM analysis fit the experimental datas quite well, and this validates the feasibility of simplified calculating method.For the better efficiency of satellite communications, shape design for the antenna system is needed. Comparing the shape design method that is in common use currently, deducing the physical and geometrical optics theory, this article advanced a direct-shape method for the reflector. It associates the deformation of the reflector with the shape requirement of far-field sampling points. And the reflector surface of shaped antenna can be obtained directly after several optimization courses. In the end, we had a shape design course for the domain of China with this method.
