Running safety of boiler and pressure vessels is an important issue widely focused on society, but the manufacturing quality is a main factor which affects running safety of boiler and pressure vessels. It's an urgent problem for manufacturing enterprise of how to improve and enhance abilities of manufacturing process for boiler and pressure vessels. Computer aided process planning (CAPP) is a good way to improve designing efficiency of manufacturing process. So, according to characteristics of manufacturing process for boiler and pressure vessels, studying and developing CAPP of boiler and pressure vessels play an important role in engineering.By studying characteristics of manufacturing process for boiler and pressure vessels, this dissertation adopts a hybrid CAPP system mode which consist of searching ,variant and generative system guided by group technology(GT) and constructs developing platform of CAPP suited for boiler and pressure vessels. For more details, as follows:1) By analyzing characteristics of manufacturing process for boiler and pressure vessels and using idea of GT, this dissertation proposes the classification coding system of parts for boiler and pressure vessels which can be used to design group manufacturing process of parts and make manufacturing process of boiler and pressure vessels possible.2) According to requirements of manufacturing process for boiler and pressure vessels, this dissertation design a classification tree of manufacturing process knowledge and developing a editor of process knowledge, by using which enterprises can construct and maintenance their own process knowledge.3) This dissertation has designed a developing platform of CAPP for boiler and pressure vessels possible, including subsystem of process knowledge constructing, subsystem of process planning, subsystem of process management and aided sustaining subsystem of process planning. By using this developing platform, enterprises can construct their own CAPP system.4) This dissertation has also designed reasoning machine and explanatory.which can be generated process and described their respective arithmetic.
