In today's urban planning, urban traffic problems, such as congestion and parking, are the key issues of traffic planning. Around the world cities the experts in urban planning and traffic planning, concluded that the solution is built upon limiting the car using and imposing public priority. Therefore in the cities the "Public Priority " measure is put into practice, all the cities do it's hard to develop the public taffic. But what kind mode of public traffic is needed in the city, different city have different choices. The paper tend to study the bus rapid traffic (BRT) system which is suit in the Chinese big cities in today or the beginning decays of the 21 century .The system is mainly make up of the; key bus rapid rout network.First, The thesis analysis the urban structure infect the urban' traffic demand in view of the urban planning. Then due to urban public traffic need the paper study BRT system and it's practice and development in foreign cities, for example, the successful experience in Curitiba. Next the paper discuss the network planning of BRT system which is the core of the thesis. In this part the author create a new manner of BRT planning which can be explan as "planning by level, layout by subarea ". Also the author study the design of transfer station and built up a evaluation index sign system for the BRT network planning. Last the paper do a practice study of the BRT network construction in Xia'Men city .The paper have definite refence for big cities in China which are tending to establishing the BRT system. Especially for the cities which is in the developing progress, having no enough fund to construct MRT network system, the paper is more worthy of note.
