Filter media is the key to the filter and its structure has great effect on effluent and head lost of filtration. Study finds that there is a relationship between diameter and depth of the media and the relationship ensures a satisfied filtration result. And it is also an significant basis in the filter's design. To find out the relationship is possible and important. The ratio of 1/d and 1/d2 all reflect the influence of diameter and depth of filter media on the filtration performance. By contrast experiments, the thesis studies the influence of diameter and depth of filter media on effluent's turbidity and filtration.Based on analysis and calculation, main research results include:(1) In the former of the filtration period, 1/d2 is better than 1/d to reflect the change of effluent's turbidity. And the value of 1/d2 is related to the value of turbidity.(2) When consider turbidity's leak as the end of filtration, 1/d2 and 1/d all can't exactly reflect the filtration period;(3) In the whole filtration period, head lost shows liner with time. And head lost increases fast with coarse filter media and slow with fine filter media;(4) Head lost of clean media proportions to the value of 1/d2;(5) 1/d and 1/d2 all can't exactly reflect head lost's increase rapid. Media's diameter is the key.
