With the rapid economic development and social civilized process men havefocused so much attention on the environment and resources thatsustainable and ecological ideas have greatly impacted on the urban, residential and architecture design concepts and practice. This articleis also based on the ecological ideas such as "loose fit, long life andlow energy", which is generalized by Richard Rogers. In this article someprofessional knowledge such as architectural physics, buildingfacilities, thermal convection, optical material and thermal infraredradiation is used and a new type transparent water storage envelope, whichcan be abbreviated as TWSE system is created and also analyzed throughcontractive experiments of two similar models. After that typical TWSEsystem conceptual designs using transparent material such as PVBlaminated glass and polycarbonate are researched with the verticalhydraulic pressure distributing system and soft water supply system. Finally the extended functional research about the optical and thermalinfrared properties of the water storage envelope is made and thecorrelative designing projects such as water prism system and membranouswater storage thermal infrared camouflage system are presented.Generally speaking TWSE system is a new scientific notion and also anup-to-date ecological building envelope, which can be easily adapted tocertain local climate and stabilize the indoor physical environmentpassively. Comparing with other materials water is the most effective heatstorage and this character has been investigated for a long time despiteof the primary physical characteristic such as liquidity and fluidity. So water should be considered as an unconventional construction materialand this implies that water layer can be utilized as building's glazingand energy transfer. The in-depth study should be necessary in this fieldespecially about the integrated system design and optimization.
