This paper is to reveal the idea of science and technology in the four pagodas, which is embodied in the ancient buildings in the Yanbei district of Shanxi Province, and to facilitate the pagoda's function in the history of Chinese architecture. The four pagodas are characterized by rich multi-connotation and individualism, and become the only existing "live fossils" of Chinese classical wooden tower and the pagodas of tight tiles. The four pagodas' progress in the configuration technology, anti-quake, anti-thunderbolt and wind-testing etc, to some extent, influences the artic style in the religion and architecture. From the connotation of the religious worship, ethnic cultureand aesthetic emotion of the tower base--Buddha's portrait making, lotus andphoenix loving to religious spirit implied in the tower, The spirit of "The harmony and unity of heaven and human" in ancient architecture and artistic charming of culture are embodied. At the same time, the deep connotation implied in Buddhism, Confucianism and Daoism revealed, to greatly rich the treasure house of Chinese ancient architecture. In addition, Other exemplifications, such as Huayan temple in Datong, Double Towers in Taiyuan and the "Iron Bull" floating bridge in Pujindu of the Yellow River, reflect the ideas of combination of Confucianism and Buddhism, Confucianism and literature and "The harmony and unity of heaven and human" respectively.
