Research On The Protection Part Of Thyristror Controlled Series Compensation (TCSC) Device

TCSC is a important member in the FACTS's family.The technology has been matured gradually in fremdnesses.All the TCSC devices which had been used in 500KV systems were introduced from SIEMENS Co.,GE Co.,ABB Co.,NOKIA Co. and so on.Our state is exploreing in this field. China Electric Power Research Institute where penman studied in has attempted boldly in the field.Tha item they are empoldering—TCSC device—is a subtask of national physical science fund item and fateful scientific research item of Corporation of China-- flexible AC transmission system in super high voltage.After six years'research by many experts and scholars,the item has steped into engineering phase.Then I had joined into the cortrol and protect unit fortunately,and researched on the protection of TCSC device.We have researched the theory and the real method of the TCSC protection in this paper , paying more attention to the temperature going up and the power accumulating of the MOV .And also the model to calculating the power accumulating and the equivalent way of the temperature going up have been given .The model of the temperature going down after the action of the MOV also has been discussed .In the last part, the function of the protection were designed by the software and hardware.Sun Wen (Power System and its Automation)Directed by prof.
