As the important tache, substation is the main surveillant and manipulative point of the electric network. With the help of computer technology, Substation Integrated Automation System (SIAS) centralizes control, protection, measurement, central signal, automation set, management, report printing, accident record, fault wave record, communication, dispatch which needed by a substation and completes functions of remote control, remote adjust, remote measurement, remote signal to realize non-human monitor.Basing on the research of the technical trend and history of SIAS, also combining with the development of MPS4000 SIAS, this paper mainly discusses some important MPS4000 models' analysis, design and research. The traditional control mode has some deficiencies on learning ability and robusticity. According to the research on the Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)and neural control technology, this paper then discusses how to use ANN theory in MPS4000 Substation Integrated Automation System.In the Chapter 1 of this paper, the writer describes the history and different type, then the structure of the system, describes the function of SIAS, then analyses the principles of SIAS design. MPS4000 SIAS is structured with object oriented and distributed technology. Every protective set is independent but has the same model structure. Chapter 2 describes the structure and characters of MPS400 SIAS, and analyses every parts' structures and functions of the protective set.Based on the writer's research and development, Chapter 3 discusses the analysis, design and development of some important sets in MPS4000 SIAS which are set for switching on the power, set for multi-function measurement protective and set for directional protection. Digital filter and subsection revise technology are discussed in this chapter too.Basing on the introduction of ANN and his working experience, the writer discusses how to develop MPS4000 SIAS with ANN.At last, the writer summarizes the whole work and gives the directions of following research.
