With the development of economy, energy consumption of industry, traffic and construction or use of buildings are increasing tremendously. Lack of energy has been a bottleneck of economic in China even in the world. But it is difficult to reduce the energy consumption of the first two fields. Therefore, energy efficiency in buildings becomes one of urgent tasks. At the beginning this article investigates the conditions of energy-industry and construction, coming into the conclusion that work of energy efficiency has been in a new period. Residential houses of energy efficiency have been constructed in more and more cities in China, designers mastering a lot of experience and theories in this domain of energy efficiency. But in the field of public buildings design, more often than not, lots of architects ignore the problem, on the other hand, it's hard to set up a universal standard or technical modes for architects to follow.Office buildings are the main research objects in this article because its characteristics tokens that of other public buildings to a large extent. After analyzing the characteristics of energy consumption in office buildings by means of measured-date analyzing, program stimulations and survey, this article suggests some feasible measures in office building planning, architecture design or other design processes, including forming new ideas of sustainable design, reforming architectural structure, making use of new sort of energy, innovation of equipment, etc.In the end it also gave some suggestions to the correlative governmental departments about how to assess and manage energy-efficiency buildings or other green buildings.
