Land Use In Urban Fringe Of Xi'an City

Now the systematic research on land use in urban fringe lies in a preliminary phase in our country. The research on land use in urban fringe of Xi'an City not only is helpful to perfect the research systerm in our country, but also can be used for reference to other cities in West or in the same style.In this paper, false color photomontage with scale of 1: 100000 treated by the remote sensing picture of Xi'an district in 2002 is the calculating base, and the basic theory of Breakpoint method and the Matlab software that is used to program and recognize the image are applied to divide the area of urban fringe in Xi'an. The spatial expansion of urban fringe of Xi'an city is divided into 5 phases. According to each phase, expansionary modes and force are analysed.According to the divided phases, the paper analyses the elements of land use in each phase. According to the date about types of land use of Xi'an, the paper analyses the transformation in the types of land use and the landscape of land use in urban fringe of Xi'an city, then summarizes the characteristics of land use in urban fringe of Xi'an city.The concept of sustainable land use in urban fringe is defined in the paper, and at the same time, the sustainable land use in urban fringe of Xi'an city is analysed from two aspects: holistic area of urban fringe and regional functional zone. In the holistic aspect, the problems and the countermeasure of land use in urban fringe are analysed. In the regional functional aspect, the urban fringe in Xi'an is divided in some functional zones, and preliminary analyses about the land use are made in each zone. As typical examples, two zones are analysed deeply.Based on the developmental analyse of Xi'an city, the paper proposes southwest asthe predominant developmental direction, and Xianyang, Lintong and Jinghe Industry Park as the assistant developmental directions. According to the continuous extending mode and the multi-center mode, the paper forecasts the area and shape of the urban fringe of Xi'an city in 2020. At the same time, the paper forecasts the elements of land use and functional zones in urban fringe of Xi'an city in 2020.
