This thesis presents a design and study of a new type of SMA-Rubber Bearingand its application for vibration control of Lattice Shell. First, the state-of-the-artresearches of vibration control technologies in long-span spatial structures as well asan overview of SMA applications in structural vibration control are summarized. Then, four types of SMA-rubber Bearing are proposed and designed utilizing superelasticityof SMA materials, the corresponding theoretical models are developed and designmethods are given. In order to demonstrate the SMA-rubber Bearing's feasibility andget full understanding of working performance of the SMA-rubber Bearing,a detailedexperimental investigation is carried out from which the effects of vertical loads, strain levels, as well as frequencies are discussed. The theoretical model is verified bythe experiment. Based on the results of the experiment, dynamic responses of asingle-degree of freedom system with SMA-rubber Bearing are analyzed, and theseismic isolation performances of the bearing are discussed. Finally, Vibration controltheory and methods for Lattice Shell Structures are investigated, and the controleffectiveness are analyzed.
