All elements of the structure are closely connected to form a space structure to sustain various loads from many directions in the angle of structural analysis while every element may be jointed with others out of its plane as a three-dimension bearing system. The frame structure is, undoubtedly, a space system in which beams and columns are the main crucial vertical loads sustaining system and.concurrently are acted upon by horizontal loads. Great space work results from the indivisible bearing system composed of latitudinal and longitudinal frames as well as the slab, resulting in its mechanical characteristics of reasonable force distribution and improved seismic capability due to good ductility. Meanwhile, the architecture styles are diversified and flexible, meeting multiple requirements. To achieve a quick and easy calculation for a building project, assumptions are made as follows: First, the uncertainty of wind and earthquake loads are simplified as they just act on the main axis of the structure. Then internal forces are analyzed at two orthogonal directions. Second, latitudinal and longitudinal frames are not interacted as planar frame, and antitorsion is not taken into account. Furthermore, planar frame is rigid enough to sustain lateral loads in the plane but weak out of the plane with little rigidity. Thus the whole space structure is divided into many planar structures bearing external loads together and structures perpendicular to the plane share no loads. Third, the slab is unlimitedly rigid in its own plane but weakest out of the plane. The mechanical computation of representative planar frame is made based on above assumptions demonstrating that space work is highly complex as little researched .At present, the traditional planar frame analysis is still adopted in design for manufacturing house and multistory frame reinforced structures, disregarding influence of space work due to slab-beam connection .The vocational aim of realizing economically optimal design assuring safety calls on all engineers to do their utmost for the balance between cost of design and safety classes of the project. Inasmuch, effective approaches should be found in researching space work of frame structures. Floor horizontal bracing imitating rigidity in certain design of engineering practice is viewed as considering space work. Varied computer program languages are also compiled although none of them is testified or demonstrated by model tests. Meanwhile, related studies carried out in China give priority to masonry structures and one-story manufacturing house, dealing in dynamic characteristics of structures under seismic loads considering space work. Therefore, multistory manufacturing frame model test is carried out to explore each frame working behavior under horizontal loads. Contrasted with model test results, ANSYS 3-D model calculation corresponds well, which can be referred by practical approaches and lay a solid foundation for further research work.
