With the increasingly intense market competition, rapid response design technology for mechanical products is of great importance for the manufacturing enterprises to improve their ability to respond to market demands quickly and to occupy a vantage position in the competition. In this dissertation, the theory , methods and key technologies of rapid design of mechanical products are studied systematically, and the basic technologies of re-development of CAD software are studied systematically, and the rapid design architecture of multi-technology fusion is established. The main contents of the dissertation are as following.1. The correlated concepts of re-development of CAD software are introduced. The present status and trends of the research on the technologies of re-development of CAD software are expounded, meanwhile significance of re-development of CAD software are set forth, and then contents of re-development of CAD software are surmised. The technologies of UML and database and the theory of software engineering are expounded as the theatrical base of technologies of CAD software re-development.2. Based on the study of the basic theory of rapid design of mechanical products, the rapid design architecture of multi-technology fusion and the object-oriented integrated data model of mechanical products are built. The rapid design architecture of multi-technology fusion is based on modular design technology, and it combines the intelligent design technology and computer aided technology at the same time.3. The generalized modular design method is proposed on the basis of traditional modular design method, and the concepts of flexible module and virtual module are presented. The generalized modular product family and modules system planning method is studied. The two-stage module identification method for product family and the synthesis method of generalized modules based on graph theory are proposed. 4. The technologies of KBE-based intelligent design and the construction method of KBE tools are studied. The object-oriented knowledge frame model of generalized modular product is built and the open integrating and driving mode of knowledge model and CAD model is proposed.5. Based on the study of rapid design theory, method and technologies for mechanical products, the rapid design software tools is developed, which could be customized according to the characteristics of different kinds of products. Customized rapid design system for specified products could be constructed with these tools.
