Research On Rhe Effects Of Bio-additives For Gasoline To Engine Performance

Fuel additive is one of most effective ways to improve the performance of gasoline. Adding the bio-additives to the gasoline could solve the problem of the pollution to the environment and the poison to the after treatment of the tetraethyl lead and MTBE. The bio-additive is also friendly to the environment and renewable. In order to displace MTBE and to realize the sustainable developments of energy source, the bio-additives have a good future.The research takes a bio-additive from abroad as basic materials, which is modified its property to improve the dissolution in gasoline under low temperature. The tests compare the basic additive with the additives modified with the solvent and the solvent as the research objects. With a view to improve the fuel economy and the emission at idling and fast idling speed, the research has carried out the bench tests and road tests respectively. Considering the difference between the gasoline of our country and the additive produced area, the adaptability of the additive to two kinds of the same octane number gasoline of in our country has been tested.The bench tests show that the bio-additive can improve the fuel economy obviously. Under test condition, adding the additive as 3.5 % (v/v) to the gasoline, the average fuel consumption can be improved to 5.3%, and the maximum to 8.5%. And the emissions at the idling and fast idling speed also have been improved at the same time,.The road tests also show that the bio-additive can improve the fuel economy obviously. Under the city and the suburb conditions, the fuel consumption is all improved more than by 5%.The research manifests that the action mechanism of the bio-additive is complicated. And the additive is sensitive to the component of the gasoline. To find the proper solvent and improve the effective components of the bio-additive is also necessary and important.
