With the rapid development of cities, and the sharp expansion of city population, water resources of cities are being contaminated badly. Besides the badness of management, the deficiency of supervision, the imperfection of law and citizens' ignorance, according to the investigation reports from metropolises like Shenzhen, Chengdu, Changsha, the main reasons for water pollution lie in the city's lack of perfect drainage pipeline systems and the deficient capacity of urban sewage treatment plants, because lots of concourse pipeline systems remain in most of city's old areas. Because a low collecting and dealing rate of sewage , most polluted water will go directly into city water systems. It goes greatly beyond the capacity of self-clearance of receiving water system . So, the city water system is polluted. The stress on control of water pollution will transfer from the period of one source to massive sources, which adds more difficulty to the prevention and cure of city sewage. The clearance of the reason is the key to solve the question. The cure of city sewage should start at the drainage system, especially a city's drainage pipeline system. How to make up the fittest layout planning of drainage pipeline system for a city; how to reform the concourse pipeline system of old areas of a city; how to turn the sewage into the useable resources; and how to make good use of urban rainwater, are all the key duty and obligation for a worker who studies on the layout planning of city's drainage systems in the 21st century. Layout Design of Urban Drainage Pipeline System Contemporary urban drainage pipeline system has its new meaning to integrate society, environments and economy efficiency to promote sustained development of a city. In the 21st century, the pipeline system can not only play a role in truncation of sewage, prevention of flood and alleviation of waterlog, but also take effect on providing the 2nd water resource for a city. In the course of layout planning, instead of copying principles and stereotyping, it is necessary to consider a city's development strategies, layout, and development level to divide sewage and rainwater into different pipelines and make out the fittest drainage layout design with characteristics of region, opinions and suggestions from architecture, management and maintaining sections. On one hand, direct and random sewage drainage must be forbidden eventually by control and supervision as well as policy and rules. Polluted water must go through sewage drainage pipelines before it arrives urban sewage treatment plants. On the other hand, a good and advanced design must be made for drainage pipeline systems with much high technology as well as a low cost. The layout planning is not stereotyped and proper adjustments must be done according to concrete situations of a city.â‘¡ Reform of Concourse Drainage Pipeline System Almost every city with a certain history might remain a great proportion of concourse drainage pipeline systems. Would it be reformed into the types of truncation or division? Both of different types of reforms have a lot of advocators. Reform on concourse pipelines must consider comprehensively the contemporary situation of a city and make out advanced layout designs to divide sewage and rainwater into different pipelines. Because it is common for concourse systems to exist, yet the reform design deserves the great concerns. â‘¢ Recycle Treatment of Sewage and Utilization of Urban Rainwater At the urgent time of water shortage and contamination, people are more and more concerning the recycle treatment of sewage and utilization of urban rainwater. In foreign developed countries, the studies on the recycle treatment of sewage and utilization of urban rainwater have been carried on for several decades and great experiences have been accumulated. They also possess advanced skills and equipments.
