With the development of automation technology and computer technology,the Industrial Personal Computer(IPC) is of very wide application in measurement and control domain. In an IPC measurement and control system,the multi-task real-time operating system (MROS) is very important. In a power plant, an IPC monitor system must be a multi-task real-time one. To set up a training system which core is an IPC that controlled by a MROS is very meaning. The workers and staff members of the Guiyang power plant will be trained at a higher start point by using the training system. The aim of the system is to make them gain some basic knowledge about an IPC and its applications in a power plant. There is no any training system based on the IPC that controlled by a MORS in market. Starting from the engineering practice, this paper studies the IPC architecture principles and the relative software, and introduces a new IPC training system based on the concepts of multi-task real-time. To design a training system for the Guiyang power plant is a significant work. A thing worthy of special mention: the vivid and concrete concepts about the MROS and a measurement and control system have been merged into the training system.In this paper, the following works have been introduced:1. The necessity and practicability of the training system are made a detailed study.2. The hardware system of the training system which core is an IPC is designed, and has been verified in the IPC lab. in Chongqing University.3. The task programs for the system have been programmed, debugged and run in the IPC lab..4. The multi-task real-time scheduling program that is the most important part in the software system has been designed. In the IPC lab., 14 task programs are scheduled by the scheduling program. The multi-task concurrent operation has come true.5. It is easy to add or omit task programs by the trainers in training system. The scheduling methods is effective, simple, clear, and the running time needed by the scheduling program is less than 1μs.6.The reliability of the training system that can sample and process 48 switch signals, 32 analog signals and 10 power signals has been verified in the IPC lab.. The additional I/O boards and task programs can be added by the trainers into the system.
