Reliability appears more important with power grid enlarged, and the reliability of circuit breakers is more important, which take on control and protect in power system. The ways of overhaul is developing for condition based maintenance from periodic overhauls at present, for ensure the reliability of the circuit breakers, reduce waste, improve available rate and rational replace the circuit breakers. The research of circuit breakers status was cared about in recent years, and some achievements have been gained, but the way how to show the status with all kinds of parameter is not found out. Based on analyzing present status of condition maintenance for the High Voltage Circuit Breakers(HVCB), A new method for evaluating the HVCB status, used fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is introduced in this paper.At first all kind of parameters indicating the circuit breaker status, and the degree of the parameters influencing the circuit breaker are analyzed. From the need of condition assessment and actual operability, accumulative erosion, years used, accumulative working times, time and speed parameter, loop resistance in preventative test, the parameter of isolation medium, and others factors, such as working atmosphere, appearance, maintained record, etc, are selected as the evaluation factors of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, multiple layer fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is established. Based on different influenced degree, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to determine the factor index's weight in the model. Ideas Borrow from the ways of establish membership function in fuzzy mathematics and combine the factor's characteristic, each factor's membership function is establish. From the evaluating need of circuit breaker status, the weight average arithmetic operator is select to evaluate the circuit breaker status.Through the examination of actual circuit breaker, all kind of parameter which indicate effectually the circuit breaker status are related by the model of condition assessment with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation for the high voltage circuit breakers. The assessment way can approximately evaluate the circuit breaker status. It provides a new way to know the circuit breaker status in time.
