The thermal discharge from the plant will affect the adjacent water area in physics, chemistry, and biology to some extent. A numerical model, which using the Alternating Direction Implicit method, is applied to simulate the current field and temperature field in this area. ADI is a semi-implicit difference scheme and it bears both the advantage of explicit and implicit that easily computing and good stability.1Dispersing the long-wave equation on interlaced grid by ADI method,a tow-dimension hydrodynamic model is established to simulate the tidal flow in Jiaozhou Bay under the effects of tide.2Basing on the hydrodynamic model, a numerical model is established to simulate the thermal discharge of Huangdao power plant in the coastal waters. The model is applied to simulate the thermal discharge distribution in Jiaozhou Bay.3In order to make the hydrodynamic and thermal discharge model intuitively, the visualization of the model was approach by MATLAB.Finally, the result of computation are compared with the surveyed data. The result of comparison shows that this numerical model is correct and reasonable.
