As a special underground structure, the shaft lining forms a coupling bearing system with around geological surroundings. Any factors in it will affect the safe and reliable running of the shaft lining. The key to analyse the reliability of shaft lining is to find out the main factors among all these factors. Because it is under the earth's surface, the situation of loads is complicated, very few people has researched the evaluation of the reliability of the underground structure as to now.This thesis analyses the factors that affect the reliability of the underground structure in detail. The main factors used for evaluating the reliability are quantized and the index system used for the inputting indexes is set up. Two methods-artificial neural networks (ANN) method and fuzzy evaluation method, that evaluate the reliability of underground structure(well wall) are used.The innovation is the presentation of the evaluation index of the well wall. And the artificial neural network and fuzzy integrative evaluation methods are introduced into the paper for the first time. Because the factors are too many and the essentiality is different, this article uses the Analytic Hiberarchy Process (AHP) to calculate the weight of the factor to reduce the influence of subjectivity.In the end given engineering examples illustrate the two new methods proposed in this paper are practicable, quite simple and efficient. But there are a lot of works to be done to perfect the methods and extend the range of its application further.
