With the development of science technology and national economy; larger number and higher quality involute cylindrical reducer are required, and the traditional design method could not satisfy the requirement of users. In order to adapt to developing society, a 3-D design parametric system of involute cylindrical reducer is presented in this paper. This system is developed with Visual C++6.0 according to existing theory, moder design technology and entity modeling CAD parametric technology. It would develop the generating efficiency of reducer, shorten the develop cycle, improve design quality, and would also be valuable to the Finite Element Analysis. So it could satisfy the development of modern technology.What finished in this thesis include follows:1. Setting a dimension chain when strength, stiffness, life and the relationship between parts are considered.2. Completing large number of repetitive work by computer through taking the formulas, diagrams and forms required in terms of programs to make be by computer.3. Based on entire analysis, the design module could be divided into entire design module and part design module, and each module could be divided into smaller submodules.4. Sorting the design object and parameter based on the object-faced technology.5. Designing a parametric editor with VC++6.0 in order to input and output the dimension parameters.6. Having built part model base and assembly relationship model base based on the design platform of Pro/ENGINEER 2000i and add users menus into Pro/E with VC++6.0 and Pro/TOOLKIT to realize the parametric assembly of models.
