| The whole length of new built Yichang-Wanzhou railway is 378 km, there are mostly mounts and gorges along the railway, which cause many tunnels and bridges need to be excavated and built when across these areas. Due to the fact-that the piers are often located in the rocky slopes, which brought the problem of the stability of the slopes, analysis on slopes should be carried out and to find the rational position of the piers. There are many ways to analyze the stability concerned, the computer simulation is an important one. With the simulation and the survey on-spot, we can get the exact status of stability and retrench much manpower and material resources. And, the DEM displacement and FEM stress analysis are two common methods of computer simulation. In this paper, the author will use the improved DEM program to analyze the stability of slopes and give out the burry-depth when the piers were designed.Because of many limitation of the former program, the author newly writed the pre-process program upon the Monte-Carlo principle. After the modification to the original code of the program, the author simulated the deformation and failure of the slopes on each side of the Mashui river, which is the control work in Yichang-Wanzhou railway upon natural status and loaded status, assisted with FEM stress analysis, the author pointed out the rational position of the piers and the stable status under two situation. The result indicated that, upon the natural status, the slopes on each side of the Mashui river are rudiment stable, but there will appear some crannies in both slopes after a long period, and the slopes will slightly sink, and, the rational position of the piers on Yichang bank is that the burry-depth 39 m, while it is 49 m on Wanzhou bank. |
