In the paper, through the analysis of the literatures in the mountainous route alignment design field, the present situation about route alignment design in mountainous areas is summarized, and some interrelated environment problems are analysed. Take example for Palongzangbu basin, Tibet autonomous region. On the basis of observation and field work on the road hazard spots, using the technology of computer and geographic information system, carried on some corresponding research work. The main work and achievements as follows:(1) Extract and analysis the information that affect the route alignment design in mountain hazardous areas. From the qualitative and quantitative viewpoint, based on the building of the analytic coverage for each factor, a using GIS method that extracted the information of evaluating index of route alignment design is provided.(2) Danger degree regionalization of road route alignment design in mountain hazardous areas. Based on the traditional research work about disaster regionalization, using the powerful spatial analysis and property data management ability of GIS, realized the automatization of danger degree regionalization of road route alignment design in mountain hazardous areas.(3) Principles of route alignment design in mountain hazardous areas and draw out the route project. Based on the analysis of research achievement, principles and methods about route alignment design in mountain hazardous areas are provided; and then, draw out the route project on the danger degree regionalization map. So that to reduce the occurrence of road hazards in mountain areas.(4) Fuzzy optimal selection model of route project in mountain hazardous areas. A two-stays fuzzy comprehensive model for selecting the route project in mountain hazardous areas is established by using the theory of fuzzy mathematics, the rights of the first and secondary influence factors are reasonably determined. The method overcomes the defect of the traditional ways, and provides a scientific ways forthe selection and assessment of route project in mountain hazardous areas.(5) A security and reliability analysis model of route project(include railway and highway) in debris flow regions. Influence factors of route project's security in debris flow are analysed systemicly, and detailed measure ways of the influence factors are put forward, and then, A security and reliability analysis model of route project(include railway and highway) in debris flow regions is estabilished.
