According to the Preventive test code for electric power equipment DL/T596-1996, all of the electric power equipments need to be tested regularly or irregularly. Therefore, a multi-function testing platform is developed by the author in Wuhan Guoce Sci&Tec CO., Ltd. The platform aims to supply a unified, comprehensive test equipment to overcome the drawbacks of apparatus available nowadays, such as single-function, low-accuracy, long cycle and complicated debugging during operating course.Actually, the platform is a self-designed Virtual Instrument based on PC 104 bus. Its hardware and function is as follows:1. High precision, 8-Channel D/A Signal Generation Card, which can operate in both 8-bit and 16-bit of data bus. The frequency, amplitude, phase of the output analog signal can be set and regulated momentarily.2. Programmable Magnifying Card, which changes magnifying multiple from 1 to 4096 by programming on line.3. 2x8-Channel/Simultaneous Data-Acquisition Card, which can change sampling rate, conversion startup mode and interrupt respondence mode.Due to high real-time requirement, RTOS (Real Time Operating System) have to be used, however, it'll be a hard work to develop the platform by typical DOS (Disk Operating System). Through the comparison in quality, reliability and performance, we choose Linux in the development of software. Then the user only needs to do a few simple handles on the friendly interface to finish the site test.Chapter 3 and chapter 4 are focused on details of the hardware and software design, the following one chapter discuss the Transformer Voltage Ratio Testing Instrument and On-load Tap Changer Testing Instrument both constructed on the platform. The characteristics of the platform, superiority performance, flexible application etc., are proved by the examples. On the base of hardware sharing, the user can fit different modules together to build instruments of different functions, which improves the renewable ability of the electric resources.This platform breaks through the developing mode of traditional instrument. The realization for new function can be easy built on it without much hardware developed. At present, the research of VI has had certain achievement abroad, but its price is very expensive, and the product of similar technology is very few in domestic markets. Therefore, the development of the platform has great significance.
