Concrete-Face Rock Fill Dam is one of the main dam types of earth and rock fill dam. It is primarily made of rockfill and gravel, which is of bearing function, and at the upper side of dam, the concrete face is located, which is of antiseepage function. The concrete face dam has the advantage of low requirement for foundation, easy diversion, low cost, convenient and fast construction, etc, and it is one of the three new dam types that are popularized in current water resources and hydropower engineering.Combined with practical engineering, the actual case is simulated in this paper. Considering the disadvantageous factors, many cases are modeled with large finite elementsoftware--MARC. With the self-designed calculation program, three dimensionalnon-linear finite element calculations are done, and the influence of disadvantageous factors on concrete-face rock fill dam is studied. The main work and the conclusion done in this paper are as follows:1. The practical project of WangErHe concrete face rock fill dam is simulated. To discuss the influence of fold line dam axis on the stability of dam, two cases with linear dam axis and fold line dam axis are compared in calculation. Furthermore, the influence of the diversion tunnel at the right bank of dam foundation on the deformation of dam is studied; some suggestions are made and can be a reference for engineering design and construction.2. The ShuiBoDu concrete-face rock fill dam is simulated and three dimensional non-linear finite element calculations are done. The stress distribution and deformation of dam and concrete face is analyzed and some useful data is got.3. Based on the three dimensional calculation of WangErHe project, the corner of dam axis is varied for several different cases. The influence of the corner of dam axis on the stability of dam is studied through the comparison calculation.4. Several finite element models with same material subarea, material parameters and other construction factor and different slope grade are calculated. The influence of high steep slope on the deformation of dam and concrete face is studied.
