This thesis comes from the scientific & technological development fund of Shanghai advanced education (No. 02IK10).This thesis is aimed to research technology for the Container Crane design based on intelligent configuration, and take Container Crane's Gantry as a model, make use of related technology to suggest product configuration method of crane design, to develop special CAD models for Container Crane design. So can realize configure new serial product from basic product models, and promote automatic level of Container Crane design.For the design of Container crane, product family design based functional decomposition of products and variation is analyzed. On the basic of fusing rule-based reasoning and case-based reasoning, design Container Crane's product configuration based blend reasoning. Construct a case database of Container Crane's Gantry. Build a configuration system's basic framework of Container Crane's Gantry, and analyze product configuration system's functional model. At last, we take Container Crane's Gantry as a model, to realize the whole configure process from parts to components.In this thesis we take advantage of Solidworks software, and to have further-development on resource functions which Solidworks have offered, for developing product configure mold of Container Crane. In the surrounding of Solidworks system interface, make use of resources which system offered to model feature, then save data information in system database, and use API develop tool of Solidworks , by calling on system database , to obtain feature model's data information .Use VB language to organize function model.This thesis have provide a kind of new theory and method for automatic design of large-sized port machines, it can improve automatic level of port crane's design , shorten the product's develop period , increase product quality and decrease the cost and meet product model's need of product life cycle , promote the manufacture information process of enterprise . This thesis will have important practical and theoretical value for the research development of new port crane.
