The design and research of hypoid gears has important status inmechanical industry and motor industry. The development and researchof CAD system for hypoid gears is very important on progress in mechanical industry and motor industry, hypoid gears CAD system is developed using VC++ and the AutoCAD secondary development toolkit ObjectARX. in this thesis ,the developing course and method ,the system structure and contents,the key technology of developing process in thehypoid gears CAD system are introduced in detail, the developed system can easily read data from graphs and tables ,design hypoid gears,verify tooth strength ,do drawing and calculate cutting and machine setting parameters. This professional CAD system is based on AutoCAD 2000 software platform in the Windows 2000 system, and the paper discusses the technology.The main works in the developing process are fulfilled as follows: Aiming at the present design actuality in the hypoid gears in China, the general ideas and R&D schemes of the hypoid gears CAD system are put forward. This paper has also deeply analyzed several functional modules of the design parameters choice ,material choice, dimension parameterized design, verify tooth strength, calculate cutting and machine setting parameters and input/output of text file or graphics file about the hypoid gears. This paper has completely analyzed the structure characteristics,design parameters, output results and software research schemes of the hypoid gears, then the data structure and database of the hypoid gears CAD system is established. By analyzing and comparing, Visual C++6.0 is chosen as system developing environment of programming language ,and ObjectARX2000 asAutoCAD secondary development toolkit, the system performs functions of each design module. The system realizes the Visual interface design by combing ARX(AutoCAD Runtime Extension) and class of MFC, and provides friendly interface with Windows style for users. During the process of interface design ,the interface error is put right by design. That is controlling the validity of each input parameter, and avoiding the collapse of system in the course of data processing. During the process of program design, it takes Object-Oriented programming ideas, processes the modularization design and parameter technology. That predigests the realization of program, makes whole structure of program clear, expresses parallel problems naturally and enriches its contents endlessly.Hypoid gears CAD system is developed by C++ language which is Object-Oriented. So it has many characters such as high modularization degree, Strong transplantation, good readability and easy handle or maintenance etc. We use the system time and again by different parameters, under the above foundation, the system has friendly interface, simply operation way, powerful function and runs safely,realizes parametric design and parametric drawing from primal data to draw. The software can not only save the time and energy of designers ,but also reduce factitiously mistakes of design or drawing, speed up the proceeding of project. It can be exercised in the design and machining of hypoid gears as a replacer of traditional manual design. It is a good co-worker for gear designer.
