Product Data Management (PDM) is a technology to manage product-related information and processes. With the broad and in-depth application of the computer technology in varied fields of manufacturing industry, PDM has become an important technology supporting the design and manufacture of enterprises. Product Structure and Configuration Management is an important function of PDM. This thesis focuses on some technologies about Product Structure and Configuration Management of PDM system used in Dongfeng Liuzhou Motors Co, LTD. which is developed by National Engineering Center for CAD, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The solution of modularization-oriented Product Structure and Configuration Management is presented, and the relevant system is developed.Firstly, the related researches on PDM system, especially Product Structure and Configuration Management are introduced. Secondly, design-manufacture processes and the characteristic of product modularization in Dongfeng Liuzhou Motors Co, LTD. are studied. Modularization-oriented Product Structure and Configuration Management is proposed. Product model and product configuration framework based on basic module and option module are given, and three kinds of constraints relation among option modules are presented. Two key techniques, examination of option modules relation conflict and the configuration course of multistage selection, are discussed. The solution based on basis function of IntePDM system is given. Furthermore, system architecture is put forward, and basic function framework about Product Structure and Configuration Management is proposed. Thirdly, the implementation technology of modularization-oriented Product Structure and Configuration Management including algorithm flowchart, integration method with Excel and the design of class and database is provided. An application of modularization-oriented Product and Structure Configuration Management is given. Finally, summarization of the thesis and the future research directions of the research are presented.
