And also is the interface of integration of PDM system and others. Product data is organized based on the detailed product structure in the traditional PDM, which lead to a longer period design, a larger database, harder to maintain product data.In this thesis, on the basis of analysis of product structure and configuration management in PDM products domestically and abroad, a new product and configuration data model facing product lifecycle is put forward, which picks up the information from projects or product drawing, and makes the information integrated and shared in product design, manufacture, vendition and service. Which transform information about vendition and service to the designer and leader, makes them realize the current of market on time. It can define diversification and flexible configuration rule based on the product structure tree model information. It changes the solution of setting rules about special attributes in other system. It can customize rules according to the demand of products and consumers. It is more currency on satisfying diversification, individualized of customer's demand. This method can effectively manage configuration information and qualifications by utilizing decision table. It also provides decision-making for configuration. This article analyzes and argues the function of product structure in organizing the process of production based on the requirements of large quantity of enterprise on PDM and the experiences of part of the enterprises that have put PDM into practice. The author points out the central position of product structure in organizing enterprise'production, and provides constructive advice for enterprises for putting PDM into practice.
