Because the aggravation of the market competition and fast change of customer's demand, manufacturing company, especially enterprises producing large-scale complicated products, look forward to the new demand for product configuration. After the introduction and analysis of the development of customization and product configuration management at home and abroad, a new kind of framework of function-driven product configuration management system based on Mass Customization is built according to the development of the modern information technology. An emphasis is emphasized on the study on the thought of function-driven product configuration management and the system model is built. In the end, the author makes a significant expectation to the future of its application and development.Manufacturing were greatly attending to a new produce mode: Mass Customization in recent year. Mass Customization mode intends to combine the Mass Production mode and Customization mode in order to make producing the customization product come true. This mode needs the support of Product Configuration technique which could assure the rapid production of the required product according to customization, so some even call it mass customization enabler.This paper summarizes the research of Mass Customization and its design methods; researches the product configuration theory based on Mass Customization ; The purpose is to design a system for product configuration which accords with Mass Customization mode. The system of Product Configuration is need to be based on product structure; and configuring can accord with certain disposition rule; and the control over product structure adopts the way of many views; at the same time, it pays attention to the managing effectively of the edition.Finally, aiming at the actual demand of enterprises' product configuration based on Mass Customization, the paper regards PDM administrative system of onecompany as the instance to analyze, have introduced the idiographic conditions that should be implemented systematically taking configuration management of the products as key function.
