Because of the continuity, instantaneity, simultaneity of power produce, the SPDnet must meet the demands of power system communication including high reliability, real time, safety, and flexibility. The development of SPDnet in deferent regions is imbalance, and new network technologies applied in power system communication also is limited. So the SPDnet has some problems in fulfilling the demands of power system integrative information transmission, and the QoS of network operations is the first important problem. Flow control is one of the effective measures in solving QoS of integrative information transmission, and it is researched widely in information network. This paper focuses on substation information network and researches on flow control of SPDnet information transmission.Firstly, this paper generalizes an overview of the development and current status of the research on SPDNet integrative information transmission. The purpose and significance of the projects is also introduced. A distributed hierarchical substation information network is constructed at first, and the network operations also are analyzed. Because of the importance of flow control, the paper proposes a global flow control system for SPDnet integrative information transmission. Flow control based on network facilities is limited, so this paper emphasizes on constructing flow control system based on information terminals and gateways. The theory of flow control through self-inspection at substation information terminal is elaborated, and it includes network resource inspection by Ex-ping, prediction of network status, flow control decision-making and flow control measures in terminals. The detail realization of flow control system based on gateways is constructed by Linux operation system (OS) which has excellent ability in flow control. And several modes of flow control based on gateway are elaborated. The paper elaborates simulation research of information transmission in substation communication network and simulation application of flow control system proposed before. Mathematics models of information terminals and transmission tunnels are discussed. And a new network simulation tool is introduced in the chapter. The instance simulation of flow control system based terminals is also proposed.At the end of this dissertation, the main results of the research are summarizes. The further work is pointed out as well.
