The dredger is one of major facilities in the fields of waterway dredging, irrigation project, flood prevention or control, ocean development and seaport construction etc. At present, the management methods of dredger's maintenance are primary Time Based Maintenance and Run-to-Breakdown Maintenance. With the development of dredger, the management maintenance methods cannot satisfy with requirements of dredger management. Condition Based Maintenance offers a new development direction of dredger management. With the help of sensor technology, computer and network technology, faulty diagnosis technology, the condition of the key important mechanical and hydraulic equipments of the dredger can be effectively monitored. Through this method, the cost of production and management can be cut effectively. Meanwhile, the facilities can produce obvious economic and social benefits within its life cycle.In this dissertation, on the basis of widely investigation of hydraulic system in dredger and deep theoretic research, the contamination degree of hydraulic system is chosen as the research object, and the research of the new method to the feature picking-up and fault diagnosing is made, in the meanwhile, the monitoring and diagnosis system for the dredger is developed. The major contents of the dissertation are as follows:1. It analyzes the sources of contamination material, the mutual relation between contamination material and theory of the wearing and the influence of contamination material to the failure of the hydraulic parts. And it will contribute to the fault diagnosis later.2. It analyzes the international and domestic contamination degree control standards and its feature picking-up. According to the structure and working environment of hydraulic system, the kind of contamination degree standard, the type of feature and the aimed cleanness degree applied in this hydraulic system are determined.3. It makes use of fuzzy theory and method to diagnose the contaminationdegree fault of hydraulic system in dredger.4. It applies the programming software LabVIEW as tool to develop the On-line Hydraulic System Contamination Degree Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis System. This system can come true the Computer-Aided contamination monitoring and diagnosis in hydraulic system.The research work in this dissertation is significant for the improvement of the management of contamination control in the hydraulic system of the dredger. A large change for the management mode of contamination control was made from the ship engineer's personal experience to the condition monitoring. It makes the contamination control of the hydraulic system more scientific and effective.
