With the background of the engineering item sponsored by China Navy, warship damaged stability research and realtime calculation software development, we discussed the method of calculating the damaged stability on the basis of study of the famous methods to calculate it in the world, in the end we point out the way to acquire the statical stability when the negative initial stability appears, then we calculate the damaged stability and study the righting problem of five basic statements.1) We show the method to calculate the initial stability and the large obliquity stability, and then discussed the reason to cause it. According to the statics theory we correct the statical stability curve considering the free surface in different loading.2) After analyzing the cause of negative initial stability appearance, we point out the method to calculate the damage stability in two step after the appearance of negative initial stability. Then we modify the statical stability curve in the view of the second type damaged cabin and then discussed the result.3) We devote to studying the method of righting for the damaged ship after calculating the damage problem of five basic statements. We talked about the sequence of resuming the stability and equilibrating the ship through the calculation of real ship. We use two methods to deal with the righting problem and then analyze the result in detail.4) On the basis of studying existingly, the righting warship system and simulating procedure is exploited. This procedure can calculate intact stability and damaged stability of warship, and also can compute and simulate righting process. According to the calculation of the real warship, it has verified the dependability and practicability of this computing technology and procedure.
