The West To East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project was listed in the projects which were especially invested and constructed in the country . It is also the super-huge national infrastructure project. The pipeline project in Jiangsu province must crossover many hydraulic projects such as rivers, lakes , etc. These pipelines that cross hydraulic projects must have an impact on those existing important projects ( especially on rivers , embankments and so on ), have an influence on the stability and security of the original project and even might threat the people' s safety of lives and properties . So flood-control impact assessment must be done. The author mainly studied the influence of seepage and slope stability of the rivers and embankments as pipelines pass through hydraulic projects according to the flood-control impact assessment of West To East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project . The main contents of the paper are as follows:1. The author have been familiar with the West To East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, especially the basic materials when the project is in Jiangsu province and studied the procedures and features of directional drills which are used in the West To East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project as pipelines pass through rivers and embankments.2. The author study the basic principle and various methods of seepage stability analysis, especially FEM which is usually used in steady or unsteady seepage analysis and basic principle and methods of slope steady analysis which is often used in actual projects. He also analyzed the influences of seepage on slope stability and several methods of slope stability analysis when considering seepage problems and used effective stress method in slice method to study the slope stability according to the actual conditions in the project.3. With the flood impact assessment of the pipeline crossing projects of Beijing-Hangzhou Canal in West To East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, Author use FEM for seepage problem to analyze the seepage fields and slope stability of the embankments which were crossed by the gas pipeline. Base on the calculation, Author study the influence caused by the pipeline crossing and finish flood-control impact assessment.
