In this paper, the static and dynamic characteristics of the metal hose have been studied, which based on the nonlinear finite element theory. The parametric Finite Element Analysis software about metal hose's mechanical characteristics has been developed with the ANSYS platform. First of all, the bellow is described by the three-dimension 8-node element shell93 and the metal net is described by the three-dimension 3-node element beam189. The relation between the layers of the bellow is described by the theory of coupling and the relation between the bellow and metal net is described by the theory of constraint equation. Considering the nonlinear characteristics such as material non-linearity, geometry non-linearity and large deflection, the parametric static and dynamic finite element models of the metal hose have been set up. Secondly, in the static research, the deformation and the stress distribution of the metal hose have been studied under the condition of the single or united action of the various kinds of load such as axial pulling, axial compressing or transverse bending. Meanwhile, How the bellow's each main parameter impacts on it's mechanical characteristics,the best balanceable weaving-angle of the metal net and how the joint between the bellow and the metal net effects on the metal hose's static mechanical characteristics have been discussed. Finally, in the dynamic research, the inherent frequencies and the vibration shapes have been studied by the modal analysis. The metal hose's vibration response to the axial harmonic excitation and the radial transient excitation are also analyzed. The FEA analysis software is proved to be reliable through comparing the analysis result of finite element with the experimental result. The parametric Finite Element Analysis software about metal hose's mechanical characteristics has been offered to the engineering designers, which has important engineering value.
